For a multitude of reasons too lengthy to list here, COCHLEA & EUSTACHIA is no longer a full color comic. I posted a general inquiry on Facebook asking readers for their opinions on a black & white C&E comic. Although there were some people who expressed a preference for color, most seemed to understand my reasoning for this shift.
Rather than going to grey, I’ve opted for a soft bluish tone, which I think matches the mood of the comic. I’m not a very good colorist, and I think this shift does draw more attention to my strength, which is nit-picky linework. It may take time, but I hope readers get used to this change.
I thought your colors were pretty good, really, but I prefer the bluish monochrome for aesthetic reasons. If it makes your life easier, double plus good. It goes well with your nit-picky line work and gives the whole thing a more unified- and serene- feel.
I will miss the subtle pinks and yellows. I thought your coloring was perfect. I'm sorry I missed the Facebook conversation. I'm still excited for future panels though! Your work is a world I want to live in.
This is one of the most amazing surreal comics I read! So whatever keeps it coming, I'm all for. But I'll say, I thought the coloring was really good. I do like the decision to go with blue. And I'm with pkrankow, I'd be okay if some color showed up occasionally, especially if applied to our heroines!
I suppose this comment is mostly to tell you that I'm one of your fans, otherwise it's just a ditto of the above comments. Your coloring is good and augments your linework very well. Your new palette is also good and augments your linework very well. Your choice is fine with us. We're just happy to see them. I'm thinking of a similar palette for some of my comics. I'm trying to learn from you, among others.
edit: And at first I thought that PLOK sign was a sound effect! LOL!
